Naval Station Norfolk occupies about 3,400 acres of Hampton Roads real estate in a peninsula known as Sewells Point. It is the world's largest Naval Station; in fact, based on supported military population, it is the largest military station in the world. The Norfolk Naval Base (NNB) is located on 4,631 acres, directly northwest of the City of Norfolk, Virginia. The Naval Complex includes Norfolk Naval Base as well as other Naval Facilities of the Sewells Point Naval Complex.

NAS Oceana (IATA: NTUICAO: KNTUFAA LID: NTU) is a military airport located in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and is a United States Navy Master Jet Base. It is also known as Apollo Soucek Field, named after Lieutenant (later Admiral) Apollo Soucek, who was a Navy Test Pilot and world record altitude holder in 1930, having flown a Curtiss "Hawk" biplane to an altitude of 43,166 feet. It is the only Master Jet Base on the East Coast.

Fort Eustis

Fort Eustis is a United States Army military installation located in Newport News, Virginia. The post is the home to the Army Transportation Corps, and also home to the U.S. Army Aviation Logistics School. Fort Eustis and its satellite installation, Fort Story, are the home of the U.S. Army Transportation Center, U.S. Army Transportation School, NCO Academy, Army Aviation Logistics School and 7th Sustainment Brigade. Other significant tenants include the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command's Operations Center (G-3), Army Training Support Center (ATSC) and the Army Aviation Applied Technology Directorate (AATD). At Fort Eustis and Fort Story, officers and enlisted soldiers receive education and on-the-job training in all modes of transportation, aviation maintenance, logistics and deployment doctrine and research.

Fort Monroe
(also known as Fortress Monroe) is a Hampton, Virginia, military installation located at Old Point Comfort, which is on the tip of the Virginia Peninsula. Along with Fort Calhoun, later renamed Fort Wool, it guarded approach by sea of the navigational shipping channel between the Chesapeake Bay and the entrance to the harbor of Hampton Roads, which itself is formed by the confluence of the Elizabeth River, the Nansemond River, and the James River, the longest in Virginia.

Formerly a sub-installation of Fort Eustis, Fort Story (now known as Joint Expeditionary Base East) is a sub-installation of the United States Navy and Little Creek Amphibious Base. Located in the independent city of Virginia Beach, Virginia at Cape Henry at the entrance of the Chesapeake Bay[2], it offers a unique combination of features including dunes, beaches, sand, surf, deep-water anchorage, variable tide conditions, maritime forest and open land. Fort Story is the prime location and training environment for both Army amphibious operations and Joint Logistics-Over-the-Shore (LOTS) training events.

The base includes 1,451 acres (5.9 km²) of sandy trails, cypress swamps, grassy dunes and soft and hard sand beaches. The western beaches are wide, gently sloped and washed by the waters of the Chesapeake Bay. Eastern beaches are exposed to the rougher waters of the Atlantic surf.



Langley AFB

Langley Air Force Base, Va., is among the oldest continuously active air bases in the United States. Langley is the home of the United States Air Force's 633d Air Base Wing (633 ABW), 1st Fighter Wing (1 FW) and the 480th Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance Wing (480 ISRW). It also hosts the Global Cyberspace Integration Center field operating agency, the 192D Fighter Wing of the Virginia Air National Guard and Headquarters Air Combat Command (ACC).

The base is one of the oldest facilities of the Air Force, being established on Dec. 30, 1916, prior to World War I by the Army Air Service, named for aviation pioneer Samuel Pierpont Langley. It was used during World War I as a flying field; balloon station; observers’school; photography school; experimental engineering department, and for aerial coast defense.

H. Marine Corps Forces Command
U.S. Marine Corps Forces Command (MARFORCOM) headquarters is at Naval Base Norfolk, Va. and serves as the U.S. Marine Corps component of U.S. Joint Forces Command.  The three major Marine Corps commands MARFORCOM, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Pacific and U.S. Marine Corps Forces Reserve provide operating forces to support unified or joint task force commanders and fleet commanders.
The MARFORCOM commander serves as the principal adviser to the commander of U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) on Marine Corps matters.

As part of his global force management mission, the USJFCOM commander directs MARFORCOM commander to organize, train and equip forces for deployment.
MARFORCOM’s war-fighting arm is II Marine Expeditionary Force (II MEF). II MEF is composed of approximately 45,000 personnel from the 2nd Marine Logistics Group and 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing. The MARFORCOM commander also serves in the following capacities: the commanding general of Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic, and commander of U.S. Marine Corps Bases, Atlantic.
